"Anne of Green Gables" Opens September 30

Cedarville's theatre program will present an adaptation of the beloved children's book "Anne of Green Gables" for this year's fall play. The show runs September 30 through October 2 and October 7-10 in Cedarville's DeVries Theatre. Tickets go on sale September 14 and can be purchased from cedarville.edu/ticketinfo. Show times vary based on date. The play is open to the public. "Anne of Green Gables" is a light-hearted story with powerful themes. The tale of a rural Canadian community, it traces protagonist Anne Shirley's escapades after her orphanage accidentally sends her, instead of a boy, to a Prince Edward Island farm. Optimistic, romantic, full of whimsy and sacrifice, the drama is a natural choice for Cedarville. Hannah Bradley, a sophomore theatre major from Pittsboro, Indiana, will play Anne.

New Collaboration Helps Artists and Writers Connect

A new creative collaboration opportunity has Cedarville University students joining forces to produce multimedia art projects. "The Duos Project: A Collaborative Experience" connects visual artists with writers for the purpose of creating a final project incorporating both writing and images. English majors Rachel Rathbun, a sophomore from Hubbardston, Massachusetts, and Grace Kohler, a junior from Elyria, Ohio, have been overseeing the project since its inception in January. Rathbun came up with the idea from observing the artwork on display at a coffee shop in her hometown.

Baltimore Native Combines Creativity and Love for God

For Cedarville University senior studio art major Anastasia Bisel from Baltimore, Ohio, her "wild, fantastic" dreams of dragons, coupled with her faith and creativity, have sparked her life's passions and interests that she has woven into her art and writing. "Heart of Aegia: The Hunt for the Gold Wing" is the first of her four-part novel series about several characters in a fantasy world who uncover the true history of a war between the races that was hidden by centuries of propaganda. While only a fraction of the story is about dragons, Bisel's fascination with the mythical creatures set the story in motion.

Lebanon Native's Musical Interview Leads to Gap Year Adventure

When Kasey Pot, a sophomore at Cedarville University from Lebanon, OH, found herself singing a capella and reading a children's book in an impromptu interview, she knew the job would be unusual. She just didn't expect to trade her college dorm room for a tour bus. As a worship major, Pot had musical ambitions walking into her freshman year. But when she didn't make Cedarville's HeartSong Ministries as a potential vocalist, her hopes were met with disappointment. Instead, Pot was selected for the all-girl band Rekindle, a part of the department of music and worship. When her team led worship in Cedarville's daily chapel service, Pot caught the attention of that day's speaker, Dannah Gresh, founder of Pure Freedom Ministries and True Girl. Gresh offered Pot a chance to work with True Girl, touring North America for 9 months and sharing about having faith in Jesus Christ with moms and their 7- to 12-year-old daughters.
