Blood Drive Looks for COVID Antibodies

On Friday, April 2, Cedarville University hosted a Red Cross blood drive with hopes to yield new plasma donors in the fight against COVID-19. This spring's blood drive took place in the Stevens Student Center (SSC) event rooms 240 & 241, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Social Work Class Meeting Essential Community Needs

Senior social work students from Cedarville University are working to create a connection between the university and surrounding communities. Through a class project, in conjunction with Cedarville United Presbyterian Church, the students are collecting essential items for the church's Total Essentials Pantry. The project, from March 15-29, is part of the Social Work Practice with Community and Organizations class, a required class taught by Prof. Sandi Wagner.

Grosse Pointe Woods Native Serves Nursing Home from Afar

Despite the restrictions of COVID-19, Cedarville University students are continuing to serve residents and staff at the Xenia Health and Rehab center from afar by sending gift baskets, writing cards of encouragement and praying for the residents, including Lia DeCoste, a senior nursing major from Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the team visited the nursing home each Wednesday. Students split into groups and visited each individual resident's room to sing, pray and talk with them, seeking to share the hope of Christ through their conversations.

Mansfield Native Serves from Afar

Danville Native Hosts Blood Drive

On Thursday, Nov. 12, Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville will host a Red Cross blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in its gymnasium. To register, participants can visit RedCrossBlood.org (sponsor code CU), call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Emily Greenhouse, a junior nursing major from Danville, California, is excited for the opportunity to host this drive as the drive organizer during the pandemic, specifically with how it may help COVID patients. Donors whose blood samples contain COVID-19 antibodies will be notified by the Red Cross.

Portage Native Participates in Letter-Writing Campaign to Connect with Inmates During COVID

Before the outbreak of COVID-19, a group of Cedarville University students visited the Greene County Jail on Sunday mornings to spend time talking with inmates and building relationships with them. Due to the health precautions this year, inmates are unable to talk with visitors face-to-face; they can only talk behind glass and over a phone. Cedarville students typically begin their jail ministry in October, and with COVID-19, they are planning to move to a letter-writing campaign in hopes of encouraging the inmates.
