Bedford Native Graduating With Re-imagined Recital
The junior year may have ended on a low note for Cedarville University class of 2021 music students, but they hope to end on a high note in their final semester with re-imagined senior recitals. David Kravets, a music ed major with a concentration in choral and voice from Bedford, PA, will preform Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall.

Batavia Native Wins People's Choice Award for High-Tech Map Making
Two Cedarville University students earned the People's Choice Award for their global information system (GIS) map showing Ohio wild animal-vehicle collision sites and hotspots. Lauren Pride, an environmental science major from Batavia, Ohio and Benjamin Dunning, an environmental science major from Beaufort, South Carolina, were recognized with the award during the recent Southwest Ohio GIS Users Group (SWOGIS) meeting.

Danville Native Finds Thankfulness During COVID Recovery
During this Thanksgiving season, students at Cedarville University are thankful for a rather strange experience: quarantine and isolation due to COVID-19. While these experiences are extremely hard, William Imfeld, a sophomore allied health major from Danville, Kentucky, looks back at this difficult season with gratitude. Imfeld tested positive for COVID on September 14 and spent 10 days in isolation. "I can't stress enough how weird it is not to be able to taste and smell even though I didn't have a stuffy nose," said Imfeld. "But it really made me grateful that God made the world in a way that allows us to enjoy it with our senses."

The relationship between faith and politics can be fraught with tension. Benjamin Mays and Jonny Gartner face the challenge head-on in their podcast "Cedar60." Gartner, sophomore political science major from Sunbury, Ohio, wanted to provide more opportunities on campus for students to openly discuss political topics. A weekly panel discussion with several peers in the department of history and government quickly evolved into the "Cedar60" podcast.

Bellefontaine Native Connects With Young Writers Through Kidblog
COVID-19 regulations have made it difficult for Cedarville education students to gain teaching experience this year. That's where Kidblog comes in. Kidblog was developed by Sherri Washburn, who has taught second grade for 22 years at Akron Elementary in Indianapolis. This program is fully online and provides a place for elementary students to write homework assignments on the computer and receive feedback from their teachers and from education majors. Dr. Kevin Jones, assistant professor and dean of education at Cedarville, reached out to Washburn and connected her with Cedarville education students who were willing to be writing buddies with her students including Andrew Reinhard, a junior math and science middle education student from Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Prairie City Native Fights COVID-19 With the Cedar 22
If COVID-19 shut down your favorite marathon and you were fighting the pandemic blues, what would you do? In the case of Jason Stafford, you answer with the Cedar Lake 22. And a half. On September 19, Stafford, a Cedarville University freshman management student from Prairie City, Iowa, decided to create his own marathon, minus a couple miles, by doing laps around Cedar Lake, which sits in the center of Cedarville's campus. Each lap was a little more than a half mile. He added a jaunt downtown to the village of Cedarville to mix it up.

Rubik's Cube Helps Xenia Native Solve the Puzzle of His Future
Solving Rubik's Cubes changed the course of Drew Brads' future career. And he has Costa Rica to thank for that. Brads, a sophomore from Xenia, Ohio, had wanted to be an engineer since he was a little boy. At age 10, he began solving Rubik's Cubes, which quickly grew into something more - a competitive game.

Temple Native Helps With COVID Contact Tracing
Starting in October, 26 Cedarville University pharmacy students including Zach Krauss, president-elect of Cedarville's chapter of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) and second-year professional pharmacy student from Temple, Texas. will collaborate with Wright State School of Medicine and Master of Public Health students and Greene County Public Health to help notify and provide medical insight to Miami Valley residents who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Beavercreek Native Solves Puzzle In Very Unusual Way
Solving Rubik's Cubes is no small matter for Cedarville University student Ivan Krueger, a freshman electrical engineering and mathematics major from Beavercreek, Ohio. It's quite a feat. Or is that feet? Ivan's brother, Thaddeus Krueger also joins him in solving puzzles in very unusual ways. The Krueger brothers don't have enough time in college to be as competitive with Rubik's Cubes as they once were, but they have enjoyed passing their love of cubing onto other members of their family. To date, they've taught their 80-year-old grandmother and 4-year-old sister to solve the cube.
